Student Safety

Description

Students are one of the most vulnerable segments of our society. That is why we work with the public sector to educate them on their safety and security.

Key Activity

We are working to communicate to students and NTE businesses the possible risks students face when out in the city, how to combat and where possible prevent them. Students are not always aware of the potential risks during or after a night out with friends, which is why we are working with Merseyside Police to push campaigns to raise awareness of issues such as sexual assault and drink awareness.

Sexual assault is rife in night time venues, and it is vital that we spread the message that sexual assault is ALWAYS a crime, no matter how small or how much of a ‘joke’ it was intended to be. We want to help students in Liverpool to identify the signs and understand the seriousness of something that is often considered trivial.

Drink awareness is important across all areas of society, but students in particular can get carried away with their new-found freedom and can quickly become vulnerable thanks to excessive alcohol consumption. Working with our stakeholders, we want to encourage the city’s NTE businesses to be more vigilant in spotting when someone is drunk, and to take action to help them should this be the case.
