In The Press: Liverpool Nightlife CIC’s Plans to Prevent Knife Crime

A new hard-hitting initiative aimed at tackling knife crime in Liverpool has been launched, spearheaded by one of the city’s most influential nightlife figures.

John Hughes has been threatened with knives, seized them from clubbers and seen the devastating injuries they can cause over three decades of working in clubland.

Now, the head of the city’s Pubwatch is hoping to build on the success of existing anti-knife crime campaigns by calling for those who take pride in Liverpool to became a vocal part of the 99% who see their home as no place for blades.

Liverpool has been hit by a wave of tragedies linked to knife crime over recent years.

The city centre alone has witnessed two fatal stabbings in the past 18 months, while terrifying slashings have led to concerns over safety within Liverpool’s vibrant nightlife.
